The Hilal to commence the month of Shawwal 1445 AH was looked for after the sunset on Thursday, April 9, 2024. The Hilal WAS NOT SIGHTED by CHC subcommittee members in San Antonio, TX and San Diego, CA.

The Central Hilal Committee of North America so as Owen Sound Muslim Association has accepted these report(s) and has declared Wednesday, April 10, 2024 will be Eid al Fitr and the 1st day of Shawwal 1445 AH.

Eid Salah Time : 9:00am

Dhull -Hijjah, Day of Arafah, and EID Day Information

Dear Community,
Assalamo Alaykum,

Thursday, June 30th was first day of Dhul Hijjah 1443.
- Fasting the day of Arafah will be on Friday July 8th
- Eid-ul-Adha will be on Saturday July 9th, and
- EID Salat will be in Owen Sound Masjid at 9:00AM on Saturday July 9th inshAllah

Guidelines:
1: Wearing a face mask is optional
2: If you feel sick, please don’t come to the Masjid for Eid Salah
3: Sister's can use the entrance at far end of the Mosque to enter the sister's area. A staircase goes up will lead them to ladies side in main prayer hall . Sister's with younger kids are requested to pray in downstairs prayer hall
4: After Eid Salah we will have an Eid Potluck breakfast, you may bring a dish to share. Pls make them into 2 portions, one for the sister’s side and the other for the brothers.
5: Attendees can also park their cars in the parking lot opposite of the Masjid parking for convenience
6: Eid Salah will start sharp at 9:00AM so plan to come early

Lifting Mandatory Mask Requirement

With the recent update from the Province of Ontario effective Saturday Jun 11, 2022 (Fajr) Insha’Allah OSMA will be lifting mandatory mask requirement.

People at risk of becoming severely ill if they get COVID-19 are advised to wear a face mask to protect their own health. Respect other people’s choices about wearing a face mask and keep in mind that everyone’s situation is different.

Eid ul Fitr, May 2, 2022

As per The Central Hilal Committee there was no confirmed sighting of the new moon of Shawwal on Saturday, April 30th. So we are completing 30 days of Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr is on Monday, May 2nd, 2022.

Eid Salat Time

Monday May 2, 2022 at 8:30AM in our Owen Sound Masjid

Guidelines:
1) There is No registration required for to come Eid Salah
2) Wearing a mask is still Mandatory to pray Eid Salah
3) If you feel sick, please don’t come to the Masjid for Eid Salah
4) Ladies can use main entrance or entrance from the far end of the Masjid and accommodation for them is made on the first floor of the Masjid or they can pray in down stair all for their convenience
5) After Eid Salah we'll have refreshments to enjoy together Inshallah. You may bring a dish if you like. Pls make them into 2 portions, one for the sister’s side and the other for the brothers
6) Attendees can park their cars in the parking lot opposite the Masjid parking for convenience
7) Eid Salah will start sharp at 8:30AM so try to come a bit early

Ramadan Moon Was Sighted

The crescent moon to commence the month of Ramadan 1443 AH was looked for after the sunset on Friday 1st April 2022. Reports from The Central Hilal Committee and Hilal Committee of Metropolitan Toronto & Vicinity confirm that the moon was sighted.

The Executive Committee of OSMA has accepted these reports and has declared that the month of Sha’aban 1443 AH will complete 29 days. Therefore, the 1st day of Ramadan 1443 AH will be on Saturday April 2nd 2022.

Dear Community,
AssalamoAlykum,

Just a reminder for all the community members that you still need to wear a face mask to enter the masjid, this also applies for all your kids that attends the Quran classes.
We are planning on starting praying shoulder to shoulder on the first day of Ramadan inshallah, but the face mask is still needed, bringing you Owen prayer carpet is an optional .

Dear Community,
AssalamoAlykum, 

Due to government recommendations, we have lowered our capacity to 50%.
We will still be maintaining 2m distance as we have been up until now, but the number of people inside the main prayer hall will be further limited, and some people will be asked to pray in downstairs hall once again.

We ask for your continued cooperation as we navigate this situation.
- Please remember to bring proof of vaccination.
- Please stay home if you are sick or have been exposed to someone who is.
- Please bring your own prayer mat and wear a mask.
- Please avoid congregating or lingering inside the masjid.
 May Allah keep us safe and well. Ameen.

OSMA DONATIONS APPEAL

We hope and pray that everybody is staying safe and healthy during these difficult times.
In last September we sent out a Donations Appeal for Masjid New Central Cooling/Heating System which will cost estimated around $25,000.
AlhamduLillah We has collected about $18,000 so far. We need the support of all our community members and individuals to help us reach our goal.
Also year ending is approaching soon so send your donations quickly to get tax deductible receipts under year 2021.
